J&K: Man tries entering Farooq Abdullah's house, shot dead
A man was gunned down by security forces on Saturday for trying to forcibly enter former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah's residence. Abdullah stays with his son Omar Abdullah, also a former CM of state, in Bhatindi, Jammu, and the man's car rammed into a gate. Jammu SSP Vivek Gupta told the man managed to breach the main gate and went inside.
Man had scuffle with officers on duty, tells SSP
It is learned the man got down from car and started ransacking the house. Gupta said the man had a scuffle with duty officers at the residence and one was injured. "There has been some sort of damage to the articles over there," Gupta told. An NIE report said the man was identified as Murtaz. His father has a gun-factory in Jammu's Ban-Talab.
Confirming incident, Omar Abdullah says intruder got main-door entry
Confirming the incident, Omar Abdullah tweeted, "Initial reports suggest an intruder was able to gain entry through the front door and into the upper lobby of the house." Notably, the National Conference President enjoys Z-plus security cover, as the former CM of the state. Other CMs, who get this high security are Mehbooba Mufti, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Omar Abdullah.
