Man, irked by Jaipur Airport security-checks, makes hoax bomb threat
An altercation between a passenger and staff at the Jaipur airport turned ugly after he exclaimed he had a bomb, presumably out of frustration. Forty-year-old Jai Prakash Choudhary was getting irritated by the time-taking security check, reports said. During the second round of check, he shouted, "I have a bomb with me," said Sanganer SHO Lakhan Singh. But no bomb was found on him.
Security was beefed up in view of Independence Day
Choudhary was flying to Delhi on IndiGo Flight 6E-203 at 10:40am today, but the increased security measures irked him. "He got into an argument with the staff...when he was asked to get his bags checked," said Airport Director JS Balhara. After he threatened a bomb, they immediately alerted police, who detained him. He wasn't allowed to board the flight, which departed 30 minutes late.
Passenger used the term 'bomb' irresponsibly: IndiGo
In a statement, IndiGo said the passenger had "irresponsibly used the term 'bomb'." "IndiGo has filed the FIR with local police and followed the normal security protocol," it added. Police are investigating the matter. Choudhary, a Jaipur resident, runs an e-mitra service agency.
In June, man made hoax threat to get flight delayed
Something similar happened with the same airline at the same airport in June too, when a bomb threat turned out to be a hoax. The person responsible was a choreographer, police said, who was getting late for his Mumbai flight. Fearing he'd miss it, he decided to do what most wouldn't: he made a hoax bomb threat to get it delayed. He was arrested.
