Odisha: 80-year-old man beaten to death by son over land-dispute
An 80-year-old man was beaten to death allegedly by his son over a land dispute in Odisha's Jajpur district, police said today. Both the son and father attacked each other with wooden sticks following heated arguments over some land issue at Palatapur village yesterday, said Prasant Kumar Mallha, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Jajpur. Locals rescued father, son; admitted them to the hospital
Locals then rescued both father and son and admitted them to the Community Health Center at Mangalpur, Mallha said. While the man, identified as Radheshyam Behera (80), succumbed to his injuries at the hospital his son, Pramod Behera, was undergoing treatment, he said. "We have arrested the accused under Section 302 of IPC and seized the weapon used in the crime," the SDPO said.
Radheshyam had long-standing dispute with Pramod over land
Police have sent Radheshyam's body to the District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem. Police said that the further investigation into the matter is underway. Radheshyam had a long-standing dispute with Pramod over a piece of land located in Palatapur village, police said.
