Maliwal has injuries on left leg, right cheek: Medical report
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Swati Maliwal suffered injuries to her left leg dorsal and right cheek, her medical report revealed on Saturday. The medical examination was carried out after Maliwal alleged that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's aide, Bibhav Kumar, brutally assaulted her when she went to the chief minister's residence on May 13. The examination was conducted at the Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Center at AIIMS Delhi on May 16 night after she filed an FIR.
Details of injuries revealed in MLC report
The medico-legal certificate (MLC) revealed a 3x2cm bruise on the "proximal left leg dorsal aspect" and another 2x2cm bruise on her "right cheek below her right eye." "The patient at present is complaining of pain over the thighs, pelvis, neck stiffness, and headache," it added. However, the report did not specify the nature of the injuries.
Maliwal recounts assault incident in FIR statement
In her complaint on May 16, she alleged that Kumar "slapped" her "at least seven to eight times," "brutally dragged" her, and kicked her in the "chest, stomach, and pelvis area." She stated that she had entered Kejriwal's residence and informed the staff of her intention to meet him. She was told to wait in the drawing room, where Kumar allegedly entered, began screaming and abusing her, and then physically assaulted her.
FIR filed under multiple IPC sections
"He started slapping me with full force...I felt absolutely shocked and was screaming for help over and over again," Maliwal said. Kumar has been booked under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). These include Section 308 (Attempt to commit culpable homicide), 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint), 354B (Assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe), 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation), and 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman).
New CCTV footage shows Maliwal walking out of Kejriwal's home
Meanwhile, the AAP has shared new CCTV footage from May 13, showing Maliwal leaving Kejriwal's home, escorted out by the police and security guards. In the new CCTV footage, Maliwal appears to be unharmed and can even be seen attempting to free herself from the policewoman's grasp. "This video exposes the truth behind Swati Maliwal's allegations," the AAP wrote.
