What makes Tamil Nadu vulnerable to drug consumption and smuggling?
Tamil Nadu is well-connected by air, water and road: it has a 1,067km-long coastline, reliable air connectivity with South Asian countries as well as major highways linking it to other regions. Smugglers commonly deal in cannabis, heroin, cocaine, LSD, ketamine, pseudoephedrine and more. Chennai and Coimbatore are key hubs for drug consumption and smuggling; drug use in Tirupur is also growing rapidly.
