Over 90 devotees hospitalized after temple feast in Maharashtra
In a suspected case of food poisoning, at least 93 people were hospitalized after consuming food at a temple feast in Nanded district, Maharashtra. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening outside a Shiva temple in Naigaon. According to an unidentified police official, the devotees were served 'ambil' (porridge) and 'kheer' (a sweet dish made from milk), after which they reportedly began feeling dizzy and started vomiting.
Hospitalization and condition of affected devotees
Following the onset of symptoms, some devotees were immediately rushed to a hospital. As the evening progressed, more cases of suspected food poisoning emerged, leading to a total of 93 people being admitted to various hospitals for treatment. The police official confirmed that all those admitted are in stable condition and out of danger.
76 students in college hostel fall sick
In March, at least 76 college students living in a hostel in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida and 17 people from Barola village in Noida were hospitalized, allegedly after they consumed food made from buckwheat flour bought locally. "The students suffered a severe case of food poisoning and were treated by doctors accordingly," Sushil Sharma, general manager of Kailash Hospital had said then.
