Maharashtra: Class 10 History paper leaked an hour before exam
Another question paper of the ongoing school board exams has leaked, this time in Maharashtra. The History paper of Class 10 was in circulation on social media right before the exam yesterday. According to reports, certain coaching centers had provided their students the paper on WhatsApp an hour or two before the exam. The Maharashtra education board has initiated criminal proceedings, an official said.
Question paper found on phones of at least 12 students
At around 9:30am, the management of Sacred Heart School in Kalyan, Mumbai, received a tip-off that some students would receive the question paper through WhatsApp an hour before the exam. The exam was scheduled during 11am-1pm. When they started checking students' phones, they found at least 12 had got the paper. All of them went to different coaching centers in Kalyan and Ulhasnagar.
School alleges racket involving at least three coaching centers
"Three coaching institutes- Vinita's classes, Masoom classes and Twinkle classes seem to have promised students that they would get papers beforehand. Later, students confessed the same and we have thus reported the said incident to the Kalyan Police," said Albin Anthony, administrator of the school.
FIR filed against unknown persons, investigation underway
The school then alerted the board officials as well as police. An FIR has been filed against unknown persons, police said. After several HSC paper leaks, the board this time started unwrapping sealed question papers in the exam hall itself. However, this wasn't implemented for SSC exams, which means unsealed question papers are available at exam centers at least half hour before the exam.
