Maharashtra: 21-year-old female medical student strangled to death in hostel
On Thursday, police in Aurangabad said that a 21-year-old female medical student was found dead in her college hostel room in the city. Police believe that she was killed by an as yet unidentified person, and a case of murder has been registered. Currently, police have mounted a search to identify and nab the culprit. Here's more.
What we know about the victim
The victim, Akanksha Anil Deshmukh, hailed from the Beed district in Maharashtra. The 21-year-old was enrolled in the Mahatma Gandhi Mission Medical College in Aurangabad, and had been pursuing a course in physiotherapy at the institute. She had been staying at a room in the college hostel when tragedy befell her and her family.
The victim was found dead on Wednesday
On Wednesday, the warden of the hostel entered the victim's room and found her unconscious. She was immediately rushed to a hospital, where she was declared brought dead. Subsequently, an autopsy was conducted at the Government Medical College and Hospital in Aurangabad, and it was found that she had been strangled to death.
