Maharashtra: Unable to decide baby's name, couple holds election
Naming a kid is a tricky business. While some expecting parents prepare a list of prospective names and select their favorites later, others have a hard time. Taking the process a step further, a Maharashtra couple decided to hold an election. Mithun and Mansi Bang from Gondia, Maharashtra held an election to name their newly-born boy. The boy was finally named 'Yuvan'.
Three names fought tooth and nail at the elections
The three names that were contesting were Yaksha, Yovik, and Yuvan. On June 15, the couple held an election complete with ballot boxes, papers and election banners. Relatives and friends attended the function and cast their votes.
Why did the couple choose this way?
The child's father Mithun Bang revealed the 'kundli' suggested their child will become a politician in future. "It is then we decided to choose his name in a unique manner by public voting so that even after 15-20 years, he will cherish this day," he said. The baby's aunt said she was happy her nephew was named 'Yuvan', a name she voted for.
