Maharashtra BJP leader Madhu Chavan booked for rape
A case of rape has been registered against Maharashtra BJP leader Madhu Chavan on the instructions of a court, police said yesterday. Chavan is the Chairman of the Maharashtra Affordable Housing and Development Authority. According to the complainant, Chavan allegedly assaulted her repeatedly between 2002 and 2017 on false promises, said Devendra Pol, Senior Police Inspector of Chiplun police station.
Police had refused to file complaint, so she approached court
Notably, the victim had approached the police, but her complaint wasn't registered, after which she approached the court. As per the court's instructions, the case was registered on Tuesday at Chiplun police station and a probe into the matter is on, said the inspector.
