BJP leader forcibly kisses woman on bus, arrested
A Maharashtra BJP leader was arrested for allegedly raping a woman on the pretext of marriage. Ravindra Bawanthade, BJP's Gadchiroli district general secretary, had also promised he would get her a job. The alleged victim filed the complaint after a video of him forcefully kissing her on a bus went viral. Bawanthade was the party in-charge of Armori constituency during the 2014 state elections.
BJP leader to remain in custody for further interrogation
The video was reportedly shot on a Nagpur-Gadchiroli bus. CCTV footage shows the BJP leader forcing himself upon her in full view of other passengers. He has also been removed from the post of general secretary, but apparently due to "repeatedly fail(ing) to attend party meetings". He was arrested on July 4 and will remain in custody till July 6 for interrogation.
