Maharashtra: 12 arrested for obscenity in dance-bar, 6 women rescued
Police raided a dance bar in Maharashtra's Thane city and arrested 12 people for allegedly indulging in obscenity, an official said today. Around six women, in the age group of 20 to 35 years, were also rescued last night after the raid at the bar, located in Vitthalwadi area, Thane police spokesperson Sukhada Narkar said. The rescued women were huddled in a small room concealed behind a toilet and the bar's management hadn't taken care of their safety, Narkar said. The women told the police that whenever a raid was conducted at the bar, they were asked to rush into the room to hide, she said. The bar's manager and waiters were also among those arrested, she added.
Accused were arrested under various IPC Sections
The arrested persons were booked under IPC Sections 294 (obscene acts or words in public) and 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), Narkar said, adding that the police also recovered Rs. 23,820 from the bar.
