Maha Kumbh: 'No vehicle zone' declared amid traffic chaos
What's the story
In view of extreme traffic congestion over 300km, authorities have declared the entire Maha Kumbh area in Prayagraj a "no vehicle zone."
The restriction, which came into effect on February 11 at 4:00am is aimed at ensuring a smooth experience for devotees during the "Maghi Purnima Snan" on February 12.
Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar blamed the delays on the unprecedented number of devotees, saying there was no issue with management.

To deal with the expected rush of visitors, the district administration has released a traffic advisory.
According to the advisory, no vehicles will be allowed in the "mela" area and Prayagraj city after certain hours, barring essential and emergency services.
