MP: Constable carries injured man on shoulder, saves life
In an incident which restores faith in humanity, a constable in Madhya Pradesh carried an injured man on his back, saving his life. The incident happened on Saturday in Hoshangabad area of the state. The man fell off a moving train close to the Pagdhal railway station and was seriously injured. Constable Poonamchand Billore carried the man and ran for more than one kilometer.
Billore got a message from control room
Billore was posted on First Response Vehicle (FRV). The FRV is aided with GPS and attends to police-related emergencies. Around 8:45 AM, Billore received a call from the state control room that a passenger had fallen off a train. However, as the spot was hilly, the FRV couldn't reach there. So the 29-year-old constable ditched the vehicle and reached there on foot.
Man was in pain and Billore helped him
When Billore and FRV's driver Rahul Salkalle reached the spot they found the man, identified as one Ajit, was in pain. Without wasting any time by waiting for medical aid or ambulance, Billore put Ajit on his shoulder and ran. While Salkalle also helped, it was Billore who did most of the heavy lifting. Notably, Billore is a fitness enthusiast.
Had no other way but to carry him: Billore
About the incident, Billore told ANI the spot was about 2 kms away from the railway gate and an ambulance couldn't reach there. "He was bleeding and in pain. There was no other way but to carry him on shoulders. At one point, I had to get off the track because a train was passing by," Billore said.

Doctors say Billore's action saved Ajit's life
Billore, who joined forces in 2012, said although Ajit was in pain he was able to speak. The constable took details and immediately informed his family members. After undergoing preliminary treatment in Seoni Malwa, Ajit was referred to Narmada Hospital in Hoshangabad. His condition is reportedly stable. Doctors said Ajit suffered head injuries but timely intervention of Billore saved his life.
