Delhi: Now enjoy deluxe suites at New Delhi railway station
Be honest, we associate railway stations and the facilities provided by it with something that's unhygienic and filthy. Hence, we prefer waiting at the platforms than access the accommodation provided by IRCTC. But this will soon change once you learn about the executive lounges at New Delhi railway station. For starters, it's completely air conditioned with recliners and buffet meals. Sounds intriguing? Read on.
Stay for two hours, pay just around Rs. 200
Located on platform 16, towards the Ajmeri gate side, the charges are pretty minimal. For the first two hours, you will be charged Rs. 165+other charges. Along with a comfortable stay in which you will be welcomed with a drink, you will also have Wi-Fi access, TV and newspaper, magazine facilities among others. A buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner ranges from Rs. 160-300.
Average footfall per day basis is still low
Online booking as well as walk-in facility is available, though for big groups, it is preferable to book in advance. In existence since May 2016, the 125-seater lounge sees quite a low count per day. "The average footfall is about 150/day. This increases to around 350 passengers during peak season," a senior IRCTC official said. Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam too have this executive lounge system.
But if you want to stay beyond 2 hours?
A smart card punched in right before you enter monitors your duration. If you want to stay beyond two hours, you will be charged Rs. 55 extra. You can also avail services like internet, scan, xerox, etc from the business center along with a visit to the entertainment section for films, spa. You can thank us later.
