Lucknow: 83-year-old woman mauled to death by son's pit bull
In a shocking incident reported from Lucknow, an 83-year-old woman was mauled to death by her son's pet pit bull dog on Tuesday. The incident was reported from the Bengali Tola area of the Qaiserbagh locality. Amit Tripathi, a gym trainer, was away when his mother, Sushila Tripathi, was attacked by his dog. The dog reportedly kept biting her for over an hour.
Son was in the gym when incident happened
Neighbors heard Tripathi scream and cry at around 6 am on Tuesday. She was reportedly taking a walk with two pet dogs—the other one was a labrador—on the terrace. However, neighbors couldn't go inside the residence to save her as it was locked from the inside. Only when her son Amit returned was she taken to Balrampur Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Hospital staff informed police
The dog bit the woman on her stomach, face, and hands. Upon hearing her scream, the househelp reportedly managed to go to the terrace. However, the woman was lying in a pool of blood. She immediately informed Amit, who rushed back home from the gym. The police were informed about the incident by the hospital staff. Tripathi's body was handed over after an autopsy.
Dogs with family for over three years now
TOI quoted neighbors as saying that the dogs have been with the family for over three years now. Tripathi's husband passed away a few years ago and she used to live with Amit. The doctors said that she died due to excessive blood loss as there were injuries from the neck to the legs. The dog had sunk its teeth tearing the flesh apart.
