Lucknow: Man orders iPhone, kills delivery agent to avoid payment
A 30-year-old delivery agent was allegedly murdered by two individuals in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, over an iPhone order worth ₹1.5 lakh. The victim, identified as Bharat Sahu of Nishatganj, was delivering the product to one of the accused who had chosen the cash on delivery (COD) payment option. Deputy Commissioner of Police Shashank Singh reported that after killing Sahu, the perpetrators disposed of his body in the Indira Canal.
Victim's disappearance leads to police investigation
The whole thing blew up when Sahu went missing for two days, and his family had to file a missing persons report on September 25. While looking into it, the police tracked a call from Gajanan, the guy who ordered the iPhone. That led them to his partner in crime, Akash, who spilled the beans about their role in Sahu's murder during questioning. Now, the hunt for Sahu's body is still on, with help from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).
Additional details emerge about the crime
Further investigation revealed that Sahu was lured into a trap by the accused. They asked him to falsely report to his company that he had lost the assignment or met with an accident, and hand over the phones without completing payment formalities. When Sahu refused, he was strangled and his body was dumped into Indira Canal. The perpetrators also stole approximately ₹35,000 from him.
Accused booked under BNS
The main suspects, Gajendra Dubey and Akash Sharma, now face charges under multiple sections of the BNS, including 102 (1) for murder, 238 for destroying evidence, and 140 for kidnapping. Notably, Gajendra had previously worked with the victim, Bharat, at the same e-commerce company, raising suspicions of a premeditated crime. Investigators are now looking into the possibility of additional individuals being involved in the murder plot.
