No respite for common-man: LPG-cylinder cost increased by Rs. 48
While petrol and diesel prices witnessed negligible price-cut, the cost of LPG cylinder shot up drastically on Friday. In Delhi, the price of non-subsidized LPG cylinder is Rs. 698.50 (an increase of Rs. 48) and that of the subsidized cylinder was Rs. 493.55 (an increase of Rs. 2.34). Non-subsidized cylinders cost Rs. 723.50, Rs. 671.50 and Rs. 712.50, in Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai respectively.
LPG joins club of extravagant petrol and diesel prices
The steep hike in LPG comes amid outrage over rising fuel prices. Till May 30, the fuel prices saw a continuous rise for 16 days straight. Then, the rates were cut, by only 1 paise/litre. On Friday, petrol and diesel prices witnessed a marginal decrease of 7p/litre and 5p/litre respectively. In Delhi, petrol cost Rs. Rs 78.29/ litre and diesel Rs. 69.20/litre, on Friday.
Meanwhile, Ludhiana farmers hand over tractor keys
Amid rising fuel prices, farmers in Ludhiana retorted to a novel way of protest. On Wednesday, hundreds of farmers handed over their tractor keys to administration, saying they can't drive the vehicles. Meanwhile, in Belagavi, Karnataka, JD(S) members took out a rally to protest against sky-rocketing fuel prices under NDA rule. On its part, the government has promised a solution soon.
