Lok Sabha elections 3rd phase: Schedule for filing nominations announced
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that the commencement of the nomination process for the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections will begin on Friday. This phase will cover 94 parliamentary constituencies across 12 states and Union Territories (UTs). The states and UTs included in phase three are Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Goa, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
Official notifications and postponed poll details to be released
In addition, a separate notification will be issued regarding the postponed poll in the 29-Betul (ST) PC of Madhya Pradesh. Betul was scheduled to vote in the second round, however the poll was postponed due to the death of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP)'s candidate. The nomination process for the third phase will continue until April 19.
Key dates for third phase of Lok Sabha elections
The nominations will be scrutinized on April 20, while the last date for the withdrawal of candidatures is April 22. The polling for these constituencies, including the postponed poll in 29-Betul (ST) PC, will take place on May 7. The commission received nominations for 1,206 candidates from 12 states/UTs, as well as four from Outer Manipur PC, to contest in the second phase of the Lok Sabha Elections.

The most nominations in the second phase were received from Kerala, with 500 nominations for 20 constituencies. Karnataka followed closely behind with 491 nominations for 14 seats. Elections for the 18th Lok Sabha will commence on April 19, and will be held in phases on April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1. The final count of votes for all phases is scheduled for June 4.
