Railway passenger finds lizard in their biryani
When a passenger on the Howrah-Delhi Poorva Express on July 25 ordered biryani, they weren't expecting what came with it: a lizard. They had eaten some of the biryani before finding the lizard. When they fell sick later, they reached out to Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Twitter. Though officials arrived, they claimed necessary medicines were given really late.
What happened?
The incident happened at Mokama station in Bihar. When the passenger found the lizard in their meal, they immediately complained to the canteen manager and the train ticket examiner. They also tweeted to Prabhu with a photo of the lizard in the biryani. Railway officials soon reached the coach and assured them of appropriate action against officials responsible after detailed investigation. Treatment was provided.
Earlier, CAG report found contaminated food, unpurified water and more
The incident comes a few days after a joint audit by the CAG and Railways revealed alarming facts: contaminated and recycled food, unpurified water direct from taps and other edibles unfit for consumption is being served on trains and stations. Rats and cockroaches were found in many of the 80 trains and 74 stations audited. Proper menus and bills aren't being supplied either.
