Meet the five youngest IAS officers in the country
The Civil Services Examination (CSE) conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is one of the most challenging competitive exams in the country. Cracking the UPSC CSE is not easy; many spend years preparing to clear it. However, there are some candidates who have cleared the exam at a very young age to become IAS officers. Here are 5 youngest IAS officers.
Ansar Shaikh is the youngest IAS officer till date
Ansar Ahmad Shaikh, the son of a rickshaw driver from drought-hit Shelgaon village in Maharashtra's Jalna, cleared the coveted UPSC CSE in 2016, securing AIR-361. At the time, he was just 21 years old. Ansar is the youngest IAS officer till date. He is currently serving as the Officer on Special Duty at the Department of MSME & Textiles, Government of West Bengal.
#2: Roman Saini cracked the CSE 2013 with AIR-18
Roman Saini cracked the UPSC CSE-2013 with AIR-18 at the age of 22 to become an IAS officer. He was the youngest IAS officer before Shaikh and was appointed as a Collector in Madhya Pradesh. However, he resigned from IAS in 2016 and co-founded Unacademy.
IAS officer Swati Meena Naik cleared CSE in 2007
Swati Meena Naik, a 2008 batch IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, is also one of the youngest IAS officers. She cracked the Civil Services Examination in 2007 and secured AIR 260; she was only 22 at the time. Swati hails from Rajasthan's Sikar district. She is currently serving in the Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Marketing Federation.
Amrutesh Aurangabadkar is also among the youngest IAS officers
Next on the list is IAS officer Amrutesh Aurangabadkar who cleared the UPSC CSE in 2011 and bagged the AIR 10. Hailing from Maharashtra's Pune, Amrutesh was able to crack the difficult exam at the age of 22 years. He is a 2012 batch IAS officer of the Gujarat cadre. He's currently the Regional Commissioner of Municipalities, Vadodara, Government of Gujarat.
#5: IAS officer Ankur Garg secured AIR 1 in CSE
Ankur Garg, a 2003-batch IAS officer, had topped the UPSC CSE, securing AIR 1, at the age of 22 in 2002 becoming one of the youngest candidates to do so. The IIT-Delhi graduate is currently pursuing a two-year Masters program at the prestigious Harvard University.
