Jaypee Group founder Jaiprakash Gaur, a famous IIT-Roorkee alumnus
Jaiprakash Gaur, a noted Indian entrepreneur and the founder of Jaypee Group, is one of the most famous and successful alumni of IIT-Roorkee. He graduated in civil engineering from the University of Roorkee (now IIT-Roorkee) in 1950. In 1979, he founded Jaypee Group, a diversified infrastructure conglomerate in the country engaged in engineering, construction, cement, power, real estate, and hospitality among other fields.
Pradip Baijal, the former Chairman of TRAI
Pradip Baija, a retired IAS officer, is another famous alumnus of IIT-Roorkee. He pursued Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in mechanical engineering from the University of Roorkee (now renamed IIT-Roorkee). He is an IAS officer of the 1966-batch from the Madhya Pradesh cadre who retired as the Chairman of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
Razorpay founders, Shashank Kumar and Harshil Mathur, are IIT-Roorkee alumni
Shashank Kumar and Harshil Mathur, the founders of the country's leading payment solutions provider, are also alumni of IIT-Roorkee. They founded the Bengaluru-based payments company in 2014. Razorpay offers easy payment solutions to online merchants. Mathur, the CEO of Razorpay, pursued BTech in Mechanical Engineering (2009-13) from IIT-Roorkee, while Kumar studied BTech in Computer Science (2008-12) from the prestigious institute.
InMobi co-founder Mohit Saxena is an IIT-Roorkee alumnus
Mohit Saxena, the co-founder of InMobi, is another famous and successful alumnus of IIT-Roorkee. He pursued BE in Material Science (1993-97) from the institute. He co-founded InMobi in 2007; it is a global provider of enterprise platforms for marketers, with Abhay Singhal, Amit Gupta, and Naveen Tewari. Notably, InMobi is one of India's first unicorns.
