    What's the story

    The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are the country's premier engineering institutes that are recognized as centers of academic excellence in science and technology.

    Among the most sought-after of these prestigious institutes is Delhi'>IIT Delhi, which is considered one of the top-most IITs. IIT-Delhi is also reputed for producing outstanding graduates and famous alumni.

    Here are five famous IIT-Delhi alumni to know about.

    Former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan is an IIT-Delhi alumnus

    World-famous economist and former Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, Raghuram Rajan, is also an alumnus of IIT-Delhi.

    He was the 23rd RBI Governor (2013-16). He completed his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from IIT-Delhi in 1985.

    He also served as the Chief Economist and Director of Research at the International Monetary Fund (2003-06) and India's Chief Economic Adviser (2012-13).

    Sachin Bansal, co-founder of Flipkart, is also an IIT-D graduate

    Sachin Bansal is one of the most famous Indian entrepreneurs. He graduated in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT-Delhi in 2005.

    He is best known as the co-founder of Flipkart, one of India's leading e-commerce companies, founded in 2007.

    He was Flipkart's CEO and Executive Chairman but exited soon after Walmart took over in 2018. In Dec'18, he launched a new company, BAC Acquisitions.

    Co-founder of Sun Microsystems, Vinod Khosla, pursued BTech from IIT-Delhi

    Indian-American billionaire entrepreneur Vinod Khosla is also one of the most successful alumni of IIT-Delhi. He had pursued BTech in Electrical Engineering from the institute.

    He is a co-founder of Sun Microsystems and the founder of Khosla Ventures, a US venture capital firm. Notably, he has founded a number of other businesses and organizations and is one of the richest people in the world.

    Padmasree Warrior, recognized as one of top women in tech

    Indian-origin Padmasree Warrior, a well-known name in the tech world, is also an IIT-Delhi alumna who pursued Chemical Engineering from the prestigious institute in 1982.

    She has held several senior executive positions at top global companies like Motorola, Cisco, and Chinese automobile manufacturer NIO (specializing in electric autonomous vehicles).

    In 2018, she was featured on Forbes' list of "America's Top 50 Women in Tech".

    Sameer Gehlaut, the Founder and Chairman of Indiabulls Group

    Sameer Gehlaut is another IIT-Delhi alumnus who is a well-known entrepreneur in the country.

    He is the Founder and Chairman of the Gurugram-headquartered Indiabulls Group, which was founded in 1999. He had graduated in mechanical engineering from IIT-Delhi in 1995.

    Notably, the 45-year-old is also one of the youngest self-made billionaires in India whose net worth is $2.1 billion (as of February 2019).
