PM Narendra Modi and several other political leaders paid tribute to former PM Indira Gandhi on her 101st birth-anniversary today.
UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, her son Rahul, former President Pranab Mukherjee, former Vice President Hamid Ansari and former PM Manmohan Singh paid tribute to Indira Gandhi at Shakti Sthal in New Delhi.
Indira Gandhi was born on November 19, 1917, in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh.

Career
Indira Gandhi was assassinated in 1984 by her security guards
Born to Kamala and Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi became India's first and only woman Prime Minister in 1966.
As a PM, she was known for her unprecedented centralization of power and was named 'Woman of the Millennium' in an online poll organized by the BBC in 1999.
She was assassinated on October 31, 1984, by two of her security guards.
