List of COVID-19 guidelines if you are traveling to Maharashtra
Maharashtra, the worst-hit Indian state in the coronavirus outbreak, reported 25,833 new cases yesterday, the highest single-day spike since the beginning of the pandemic. As the state continues to witness an alarming rise in daily COVID-19 cases, the government has come up with a fresh set of restrictions to curb the spread. Here are some things to keep in mind while traveling to Maharashtra.
What will you need if you are flying to Maharashtra?
All domestic passengers arriving from Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Goa, and Kerala will need to carry a negative RT-PCR test report conducted 72 hours before. However, passengers not carrying test reports will have to undergo an RT-PCR test at the Mumbai Airport at the price of Rs. 850. Only after taking the test, passengers will be allowed to enter the city.
What are the quarantine rules?
Passengers who test positive will be sent for institutional quarantine in Mumbai. Meanwhile, those who are asymptomatic are required to undergo 14 days of home quarantine. However, in case of a returning/onward journey within seven days, the passenger does not need to quarantine. Such passengers need to furnish their return/onward tickets during the thermal screening process.
What if you are traveling by train or road?
Passengers traveling by trains that have originated or had a stop in either of the said states should carry a negative RT-PCR test report with the test conducted 96 hours before the scheduled arrival in Maharashtra. Further, if you are traveling by road, the negative RT-PCR test certificate will be checked at district borders. Symptomatic travelers may turn back or take the Antigen test.
Can you visit hotels and cinema halls in Maharashtra?
Movie halls, hotels, restaurants, as well as offices, except those related to health and essential services, will function at 50 percent capacity in Maharashtra until March 31. Further, nobody will be allowed to enter these establishments without a face mask and temperature check. Meanwhile, the number of guests allowed at wedding functions has been limited to 50 while that at funerals to 20.
Can you visit malls in Mumbai?
According to reports, Mumbai's civic body - the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) - has now made it mandatory for those visiting malls and shopping centers to undergo antigen tests or carry a negative test report. A detailed order in this regard is expected on Friday.
Which districts have been placed under lockdown?
In Aurangabad, a complete lockdown has been imposed on weekends. In Nashik, shops and establishments have been ordered to remain closed between 7 pm to 7 am. Sixteen hotspots have been placed under lockdown until March 31 in Thane. In Parbhani, all places of worship have been shut till March 31. Meanwhile, Nagpur is under strict lockdown till March 21.
