Luxury Lamborghini set on fire in Hyderabad amid financial dispute
A Lamborghini Gallardo sports car, estimated to be worth around ₹1 crore, was set ablaze in Hyderabad last week. A video showing the yellow luxury car engulfed in flames has since gone viral on social media platforms. The incident occurred on the outskirts of the city along Mamidipalli Road. A police investigation has been initiated into the incident.
Suspected motive behind the Lamborghini arson
The owner of the 2009 model Lamborghini had intended to sell the car and had sought assistance from friends to find potential buyers. The prime suspect, according to police, is a dealer known for his involvement in used car transactions. This dealer had asked a friend of the car owner to deliver the vehicle to him, leading up to the incident.
Arson incident and subsequent police action
On the evening of April 13, the dealer and several others allegedly doused the car in gasoline and set it on fire, claiming they were owed money by the car owner. The vehicle was completely destroyed before firefighters could intervene. A complaint was lodged with police by the person who transported the car, leading to a case being registered under Section 435 IPC (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to cause damage).
Details about the destroyed Lamborghini model
The torched vehicle was a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, a discontinued model from the renowned Italian supercar manufacturer Lamborghini. This model was replaced by the Huracan lineup about ten years ago. The destroyed car was powered by a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine capable of generating around 512bhp of power and 510Nm of peak torque.
