Kolkata: Tuition teacher raped class-X student at gunpoint for months
What's the story
For the last nine months, a Class-X student of a reputed school in South Kolkata was raped by her tuition teacher.
What's worse is that the accused, a 48-year-old man named Rajib Chakraborty, raped the minor at gunpoint.
Scared for life, the survivor kept quiet for months, finally breaking down on Sunday evening.
Thereafter, a police complaint was registered and Chakraborty was held.
Beginning
Reportedly, Chakraborty had been abusing the victim since November'18
Notably, Chakraborty had been running his coaching center in Tollygunge for years. He taught Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Geography to students of Classes V-XII.
The survivor joined his classes in 2017. Initially, her mother used to wait for her outside the center till the classes got over, but later she started going alone.
According to TOI, the abuse started in November 2018.

Chakraborty showed bullets to minor, took pictures of abuse
The accused showed "two bullets" to the victim to coerce her. He threatened to kill her if she spoke about his actions.
And the threats only got worse with time. Chakraborty allegedly filmed the abuse and told the victim he would release the photos on social media platforms.
He blackmailed her and forced her to keep visiting him, said police.

He even raped her at her own house
"The abuse initially began at the tutor's residence where she went to study but, later, he started visiting the girl's residence when her parents were not around and raped her," said special public prosecutor Madhabi Ghosh in a POCSO court, where Chakraborty was produced.
Complaint
After suffering silently, victim finally told her parents
The girl finally broke down in front of her parents on Sunday, saying she won't go for coaching classes.
Her parents approached the police and the victim gave a written complaint at Bansdroni police station. On Monday, Chakraborty was arrested and was sent to eight days of custody, a day later.
Meanwhile, Ghosh is trying to ascertain if there are other victims.

Dismissing allegations, Chakraborty's elderly parents said he was innocent
Another police official said the girl was in trauma and her medical examination was conducted.
"There are some gaps in her statements as well as in Chakraborty's. We believe things will be clearer once she records her statement and we question the accused," the cop said.
Meanwhile, Chakraborty's elderly parents claimed he was innocent. Reportedly, he had a strained relationship with his wife.
