Kolkata: 6-year-old molested in school, angry parents stage demonstration
A six-year-old student was allegedly molested by a male teacher at a South Kolkata school, which triggered protests by angry parents in front of the institution. Ananya Chakrabarty, Chairperson of the West Bengal Child Rights Commission, confirmed the incident, with the DCP (SE division) Kalyan Mukherjee saying, "The teacher was taken to the police station. Investigation is on". School authorities are yet to comment.
Police had to wield batons to disperse demonstrators
The police had a tough time to control the protesters who tried to enter the school. Brickbats were hurled at the police personnel in which some of them were injured, the sources said. To disperse the demonstrators, police had to wield batons.
