Rape-murder: CBI points to lapse, says Roy's clothes not seized
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has said that the Tala police in Kolkata did not seize the clothes of Sanjay Roy, the prime accused in the RG Kar hospital rape-murder case, for two days after his involvement became apparent. The delay occurred despite CCTV footage showing Roy entering the seminar hall where a trainee doctor was raped and murdered. This oversight could have potentially compromised strong evidence against him, CBI officials said on Wednesday.
CBI arrests ex-principal and police officer for evidence tampering
The CBI, which took over the investigation five days after the crime, has since arrested Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar hospital, and Abhijit Mondal, station in-charge at Tala Police. Both have been accused of tampering with evidence related to the case. The officials were reportedly evasive in their responses during questioning, leading to suspicions of "malafide intentions."
CBI probes potential criminal conspiracy in RG Kar case
The CBI is currently investigating a possible criminal conspiracy involving Roy, Ghosh, and Mondal. As part of their probe—the agency plans to examine all phone calls between the two. They also intend to confront Ghosh and Mondal with CCTV footage from Tala police station and the college. The agency alleges that Ghosh was "willfully absent" from the crime scene and both he and Mondal ensured a hasty cremation of the victim's body despite her family's request for a second autopsy.
Supreme Court disturbed by CBI's findings in RG Kar case

The court also questioned the West Bengal government's decision to hire contractual employees for hospital security, suggesting that police should be deployed in government hospitals instead.
