'We don't know...how': Kolkata doctor's father reacts to viral audios
The father of the 31-year-old trainee doctor who was raped and murdered has responded to viral audio clips in which he is heard having phone conversations with a staff member from Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. "We don't know from where, how it [the phone conversation between the family and the assistant superintendent of the hospital] went viral. We will not take responsibility for it," he told ANI.
Victim's father denies responsibility for viral audio
He also expressed doubt about the voice heard in the phone call being his, saying, "You say so, but I do not see it. This issue will not affect the investigation." Three audio clips of him allegedly having a phone conversation with a staff member, who identified herself as the assistant superintendent of the hospital, went viral on Thursday.
First phone call details emerge from viral audio
The first recorded phone conversation allegedly features the caller informing the victim's father, "Your daughter is very sick and has been admitted to the hospital. Can you come fast?" When asked about her condition, the woman responded, "She is unwell. The doctors can say what has happened to her." The call lasted for a minute and 11 seconds.
Second phone call details revealed in viral audio
The second phone call, reportedly from the same caller, arrived five minutes later. The woman is heard saying, "Her condition is critical, very critical. Please come over as soon as you can." When asked to identify herself, she responded, "I am the assistant superintendent. I am not a doctor." This call lasted for about 46 seconds.
Final phone call announces victim's death
The third and final call from the same voice announced the death of the victim. The caller stated, "Yes, please listen...we were repeatedly telling you before...your daughter...may have...died by suicide...or she may have passed away. The police are here. All of us from the hospital are here." The trainee doctor was found dead in the seminar hall of the hospital on August 9. Autopsy confirmed she was raped and murdered, with 25 internal and external injuries found on her body.
