Four terminally ill patients receive new life after kidney transplant
Four terminally ill renal failure patients received a new lease of life after receiving kidneys of two men who died of cardiac arrest at a hospital in Chandigarh. The kidneys of Paramjit (45) and Mukhtiar (56) benefitted four renal failure patients who had been on the waiting list for donors for long and were undergoing painful dialysis, Dr. Sharma said in a statement.
Pramajit's wife consented to donate his organs after his death
Paramjit Singh, a resident of Mohali's village Jatot was fatally injured after he was hit by a vehicle while crossing the road. He was admitted to PGIMER in an extremely critical condition, but after struggling for 10 days, Paramjit died of a cardiac arrest on October 22. Considering the prognosis, his wife, Jaswinder Kaur had already consented to donate his organs.
Son-in-law decided to donate Mukhtiar's organs after his death
Mukhtiar Singh, a resident of village Tasrauli was referred to the PGIMER in a precarious condition from Civil Hospital in Ambala after he fell down from his bed and had been unconscious ever since. While attending to Mukhtiar, the doctors told his family that he wouldn't pull through. His son-in-law Kuldeep Singh decided to donate his organs in case of his death.
