Yash didn't celebrating birthday as tribute to veteran actor's death
Yash turned 33 on January 8, but did not celebrate his birthday as a tribute to the death of Kannada veteran actor Ambreesh, who died on November 24, 2018. He also tweeted about this saying this "is a time for remembrance and reflection."
He had made a public announcement about not celebrating birthday
Man had met Yash, clicked selfies on previous birthdays
Yash's birthday falls on January 8, and like every year, his die-hard fan Ravi Raghuram, reached his Hoskerhalli house to observe it. He was able to meet Yash and click selfies with him on past birthdays. However, this year he was told that Yash wasn't in town. This disappointed the 26-year-old, who in a fit of rage doused himself with petrol outside Yash's house.
Ravi, 70% burned, still asked if Yash would meet him
Ravi, a Dasarahalli resident, and a factory worker, was rushed to Victoria Hospital by the security personnel outside Yash's house. Doctors said Ravi had sustained 70% burns and succumbed to his injuries. Some media reports suggest when the doctors were trying to save Ravi and he was still conscious, he asked if Yash would see him now, given that he's fighting for his life.
'This year we told him not to go, he persisted'
Meanwhile, Ravi's grief-stricken father, Ramanna, told media, "Ravi goes to meet Yash every year. Last year he had taken us as well. This year we told him not to go, but he persisted. Do not know where Ravi got the petrol from."
'This isn't fandom or love, this doesn't bring me happiness'
After hearing the news, Yash had visited the hospital, and prayed for Ravi's speedy recovery. He told media, "I don't want fans like this, this isn't fandom or love, this doesn't bring me happiness. I won't come to see anybody else like this again, else it'll give a wrong-message to fans who think I'll come and meet them (if they take such drastic steps)."
