Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was admitted to Apollo Hospitals in Chennai late on Friday night. While a bulletin by Apollo Hospitals said that CM had been admitted for a "routine annual medical check up", sources said that he was being monitored by a team of doctors including specialists in infectious diseases. Here's more.
Reportedly, the CMO is denying reports of the CM's admission
At 11:55pm on Friday night, Pinarayi Vijayan was admitted to Apollo Hospital on Greams Road in Chennai, reportedly after a dip in his blood count. On Saturday morning, the 72-year-old was taken to the Apollo Speciality Hospital in Teynampet for diagnostic procedures, said sources. However, the Chief Minister's Office has been denying reports that the CM has been hospitalized.
The CM was perfectly healthy before getting admitted
Before getting admitted to the hospital on Friday night, the chief minister had visited the family of Madhu, a victim of mob justice at Attappadi in Palakkad. Madhu had been beaten to death for reportedly stealing groceries. During the visit, Vijayan promised to take strict action against the perpetrators and announced a slew of tribal welfare measures.
