Kashmir: Three militants killed in fierce gunfight; one civilian dead

Early on Sunday, Indian security forces managed to kill three militants in an intense, marathon firefight in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The encounter left two soldiers wounded.
Meanwhile, an explosion at the site of the gunfight also resulted in the death of one civilian, and five other civilian injuries.

What we know about the encounter with militants
The fierce firefight broke out in the Laroo village in the Kulgam district where security forces were carrying out a cordon and search operation (CASO) based on a tip about the whereabouts of militants.
As they tightened the cordon and narrowed the search area, they were fired upon by the militants.
The ensuing five-hour-long gunfight ended with the death of the militants.
Aftermath
An undiscovered explosive device killed and injured civilians
After the gunfight ended, civilians thronged to the site of the encounter, despite explicit warnings from the police not to do so.
Police were unable to keep civilians out, and in the commotion, an undiscovered explosive device exploded in the area, leading to death of one civilian, and injuries to five others.
Meanwhile, internet and phone services have been suspended in the district.
