Kashmir University professor killed within 36hrs of joining militancy
36 hours after Mohammad Rafi Bhat, an assistant professor at the Kashmir University, joined the Kashmir militancy, his life was brought to an end by Indian security forces along with four other terrorists in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces had brought Bhat's family to persuade him to surrender, but the assistant professor had not yielded. Here's more.

Details of Bhat's disappearance
Around 3:30pm on Friday, Bhat, a contractual assistant professor of the sociology department of Kashmir University, went missing. The last contact he had made with anyone was with his mother. Subsequently, Bhat's family informed authorities about his disappearance, on Saturday morning. The university campus was also rocked by protests following Bhat's disappearance. To pacify students, the university vice-chancellor had written to the DGP.

Bhat's whereabouts weren't known for an entire day, but he was found on Sunday morning by Indian security forces among terrorists trapped in an encounter in the Badigam village of Kashmir's Shopian district. Despite his family's pleas, Bhat did not surrender, and was killed in the encounter. Top Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist, Saddam Padder is expected to be among the four terrorists killed.
Rafi apologized to his family before getting killed
"I am sorry if I have hurt you and this is my last call as I am going to meet Allah," were Rafi's last words to his family over the phone. Rafi's father, Fayaz Ahmed Bhat, who was an overground worker for a terror outfit in the 1990s, had strictly watched Rafi since 18 yrs of age when he tried running away to Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir.
