Karnataka marching toward becoming a COVID-19 free state: Health Minister
Karnataka Health Minister Dr. K Sudhakar on Tuesday said the state will become COVID-19 free state with more than 10 lakh vaccinations having been done so far. "Marching toward a COVID-19 free state. Karnataka crossed 10 lakh inoculations on Monday, March 8. Vaccinated 73,269 beneficiaries on March 8th, highest in a single day so far," Sudhakar tweeted.

More than one lakh above 60 years have been vaccinated
Karnataka has safely vaccinated more than one lakh people above 60 years in just eight days, since March 1. According to the health department, 73,269 people, including 32,183 senior citizens, were inoculated on a single day on March 8. The state has reported two severe AEFIs (Adverse Events Following Immunisation) and 21 serious AEFIs since the launch of the vaccination drive on January 16.
Avoid large gatherings and celebrations: Sudhakar
Last week, Sudhakar had requested residents to not gather in large groups for the next month in view of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the state. "Large meetings, celebrations, religious meetings, protests, political meetings should be avoided. I request various religious leaders and political leaders to refrain from huge gatherings and coming to Bengaluru," Sudhakar had said.
Karnataka's COVID-19 tally stands at 9.55 lakh positive cases
Karnataka, on Monday, March 8, reported 436 new COVID-19 cases and five related fatalities which raised the state's total tally to 9,55,451 and the death toll to 12,367. Yesterday, 478 patients were discharged after recovering from the virus. Out of the 436 fresh cases reported on Monday, 287 cases were from Bengaluru Urban alone, according to the Health Department.
