Kamlesh Tiwari was stabbed 15 times, shot once: Autopsy
In the murder of controversial Hindu Samaj Party founder Kamlesh Tiwari, new shocking details about the crime have emerged. As per the post-mortem report, the deceased was stabbed at least 15 times and shot once. The killers entered his house in Lucknow easily and left after murdering him. On Tuesday, Gujarat ATS arrested two main accused in the case. Here's more.
A bit about the sensational crime which jolted UP
On October 18, Tiwari was allegedly murdered by two men named Ashfaq Hussain Sheikh and Moinuddin Pathan. They entered his home carrying a box of sweets, where they hid the knife, returned to the hotel after the murder and dumped the blood-stained clothes which were recovered later. The duo had been holding a grudge against him for making objectionable remarks against Prophet Muhammad years ago.
There was a 3-4 cm "hole" in his chest
Tiwari's autopsy was conducted at Lucknow's King George Medical University and doctors revealed the left side of his chest had seven stab wounds at a single spot. A 3-4 cm hole was "drilled" in his chest. There were also two "incised wounds" on him. Tiwari's face had one bullet wound, and the report said he was shot at least once.
There are still some unanswered questions
Meanwhile, cops are amused as to how Tiwari's wife and the security guard didn't hear the gunshot despite being on the ground floor. Police haven't also managed to ascertain where the firearm was kept. A senior officer said the gun was illegal. Police are probing whether Ashfaq and Moinuddin brought the firearm with them or was it already present at the crime spot.
Clues killers left led to their arrests
The main suspects were arrested four days after the murder, thanks to trails which they left. Though police said the plan was hatched over three months ago, the sloppiness of the accused gave them away. They checked-in at a Lucknow hotel using their real names, carried the receipt of the Surat shop from where they purchased sweets and made no effort to hide their identities.
Apparently, the accused ran out of money, contacted their friends
"Once their money dried up, the accused called their family members and acquaintances in Surat for assistance. But those close to the two had already been placed under surveillance and based on that, they were apprehended from the Gujarat-Rajasthan border near Shamlaji," UP police said.
