SC Judge Joseph tells lawyers to help downtrodden, helpless people
Supreme Court Judge Kurian Joseph has called upon lawyers to help the downtrodden and helpless people. Inaugurating the Jharkhand Paralegal Volunteers Workshop in Dhanbad yesterday, Joseph told the lawyers about their responsibility and called upon them to maintain the brotherhood concept of the Constitution. He asked the lawyers to talk to the downtrodden and helpless people and provide them legal help.
Joseph also gave Rs. 50K-3L as compensation to sexual-abuse victims
Justice Joseph also handed over cheques ranging between Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 3L as compensation to 25 sexual abuse victims under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) belonging to three districts - Dhanbad, Giridih, and Dumka. Over 300 paralegal volunteers of all the 24 districts are attending the workshop, which is being organized by the Dhanbad District Legal Services Authority.
