Judge, who handed Asaram life term, transferred
Judge Madhu Sudan Sharma, who sentenced self-styled godman Asaram to life imprisonment until death in a 2013 rape case, has been transferred. Sharma was a judge of the special SC/ST cases court in Jodhpur metropolitan. He has now been posted as the joint secretary (law) in the law and legal affairs department in Jaipur. Sharma's transfer is just one among several which took place.
Godman Asaram raped a minor girl at his ashram
On April 25, Judge Madhu Sudan Sharma sentenced Asaram to life imprisonment till death for the rape of a minor girl at his ashram in a village near Jodhpur. Asaram was arrested in 2013 to face the trial. The girl was 16 then.
Fourteen judicial officers were transferred in Rajasthan
The registrar general of the Rajasthan High Court transferred a total of fourteen judicial officers on Wednesday. Prabu Lal Ameta has been appointed member (judicial) in the Rajasthan Civil Services Appellate Tribunal, Jaipur, while Rajesh Narayan Sharma has been appointed judge of the industrial tribunal-cum-labor court, Jodhpur. Further, Sanjay Kumar has been appointed secretary (law) in the law and legal affairs department, Jaipur.
