Jio Institute may, for now, be non-existent, but that didn't stop the Narendra Modi government from naming it 'Institute of Eminence', along with IIT-Bombay and IISc. This list, naturally, raised a lot of eyebrows and questions, but a parody Twitter account has all the answers for you. Though there are not many tweets, the account's sarcastic take on Jio Institute will tickle you.

The Central government kept the Jio Institute on the same pedestal as some of the most esteemed colleges in the country, and further defended its move saying it was a member of the 'greenfield category'. This category is for new or proposed institutes that are yet to come into existence, and Jio Institute was 'chosen' among 11 applicants. Even Google doesn't know about it!

After the backlash the Central government received, R Subramanyam, Secretary, Higher Education had an explanation. He said since Jio Institute was named in 'greenfield category' it got 'Letter Of Intent' and they have three years to set the institute. "If they set up, then they get 'IOE' status, right now they don't have the tag," he added. Like, that explains a lot!
