Jharkhand: Massive fire at illegal firecracker-factory; 8 killed, 25 injured
At least eight people have been killed and 25 injured when a massive fire broke out at an illegal firecracker factory in Kumardubi village of Jharkhand's East Singhbhum district. Police said five fire tenders immediately rushed to the spot to contain the blaze and rescue the people and evacuate those in nearby houses. The factory was reportedly being run in a house. Firecrackers illegally manufactured
Sub-Divisional Officer (Ghatshila), Arvind Kumar Lal, said: "A large quantity of firecrackers were stored as well as being manufactured illegally. Somehow, the stored firecrackers caught fire." The incident took place when a large number of people gathered near the house, for the weekly market.

Sub-Divisional Officer, Arvind Kumar Lal, said that the wall of the house in which the illegal factory was being run has collapsed due to the blaze. He said several people, at least 5-6 people, are still trapped under the debris. Even as efforts to douse the flames are on, intermittent bursting of the firecrackers is taking place, added Lal.
Jamshedpur BJP MP Bidyut Baran Mahato rushes to the spot
MP Mahato said, "I have already apprised Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das about the incident and urged the local administration to make adequate arrangements." CM Das reportedly assured Rs. 2L exgratia to the victims' families and Rs. 50,000 to the injured.
