Lightning strike kills 4, injures 1 in Jharkhand
Four persons, including a laborer, were killed and a woman was injured today after lightning struck them in different parts of Jharkhand, the police said. The incidents occurred in Ramgarh, Lohardaga, and Giridh districts of the state. The Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Ramgarh district, Srikant Suresh Rao Khotre, said the deceased persons were yet to be identified.
Two youths killed while taking shelter under a tree
Two youths had taken shelter under a tree during heavy rainfall and thunderstorm, a police officer said. They were killed when lightning struck them near Chaingada village under the jurisdiction of Badaninagar police station of Ramgarh district, the officer said. A woman who was passing through the area was also injured in the lightning strike. She was admitted to a local hospital, he said.
Lightning also took life of a laborer
In another incident, a 40-year-old man was killed after he was struck by lightning in Bhasko Hedra Toli under the jurisdiction of Lohardaga police station in Lohardaga district today, the police said. In the third incident, a laborer was killed after lightning struck him in Maluatand under the jurisdiction of Deori police station in Giridih district, the police said.
