4 Kerala Express passengers die of extreme heat in Jhansi
In a tragic incident, four passengers died on the Kerala Express allegedly due to extreme heat. One other passenger has been hospitalized and is in critical condition. Earlier on Monday evening, the passengers, all senior citizens, had reportedly complained of uneasiness as they traveled from Agra to Coimbatore in the non-AC coaches of the train. All deceased were seated in S-8, S-9 coach
According to The News Minute, the four deceased include Pachayya, an 80-year-old man, Dhanalakshmi, a 74-year-old woman, and Subbaraiyya, a 71-year-old woman, and Balakrishnan (67). All four deceased, who were residents of Tamil Nadu, were seated in the S-8 and S-9, non-AC coaches. The TNM report states that the four were found lying unconscious in the coach when a doctor was called.

"Three of them had already passed in the train and when they were deboarded at Jhansi station, doctors declared them dead. One of them was still critical and immediately taken to the civil hospital but unfortunately couldn't survive," Jhansi Railway Public Relations Officer told TNM.
Bodies sent to Coimbatore for autopsy
All four bodies have been sent for a post-mortem, following which the exact cause of death will be ascertained. Divisional Railway Manager Neeraj Ambisht said that the bodies would be sent to Coimbatore on Tuesday, where an autopsy would be conducted. Meanwhile, some family members of the deceased have stayed back in Jhansi to take the bodies with them.
People complained of breathing problems, uneasiness: Passenger
Reportedly, the deceased were part of a 68-member group who were visiting Varanasi and Agra, and were on their way back. Speaking to TNM, a member of the group said, "Shortly after we left Agra, the heat became unbearable and some people started complaining of breathing problems and uneasiness." "Before we could get some help, they collapsed," they added.
Temperatures in Jhansi soared as high as 48°C on Tuesday
The past few days, Jhansi has witnessed high temperatures, touching 48°C on Tuesday. On Monday, Jhansi recorded the week's maximum temperature at 48.1°C, according to IMD. Authorities have issued warnings for a severe heat wave across various regions in Uttar Pradesh.
