'JEE Main difficulty level to be same': CBSE issues clarifications
The CBSE, which is conducting the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main in April, has assured that the difficulty level this year will be similar to that of the last few years. The entire syllabus in mathematics, physics and chemistry has been proportionately covered in each question set, and each set/subject carries equal percentage of easy, medium and difficult questions, its statement said.
What is the JEE?
JEE decides admissions into the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology. Only those who clear the Main can can attempt the Advanced, subject to reservation. A maximum of two attempts are allowed in two consecutive years. The Main will be conducted in 112 cities globally on April 8 (pen-paper mode) and in 258 Indian cities on April 15-16 (online mode).
Who can appear for the JEE 2018?
For JEE-2018, the candidate must have been born on or after October 1, 1993. For SC/ST/PwD candidates, the limit is October 1, 1988. They must have appeared and qualified in the Class 12 exam in 2016 or 2017 or preparing to appear for it in 2018. Those admitted to IITs before, or who had their admission cancelled, can't appear in the Advanced.
Things to know about this year's exam
Clearing rumors about the Advanced, IIT-Kanpur, the 2018 organizers, said Advanced and GATE do not follow each other's formats. "We have released six different mock tests and the paper pattern is quite visible in them," a statement said. This is going to be the first time that the Advanced will be held completely online. About 1.14mn candidates have registered this year.

"Candidates need to make sure they reach the exam center within time. None will be allowed to enter after the time of last entry," a CBSE official said. To download the admit card, visit the JEE Main official website (www.jeemain.nic.in/webinfo/Public/Home.aspx), click on 'Download admit card' at the bottom and sign in with your details. Download a copy of the card and get a printout.
