Jaipur: Woman accuses husband of rape, forced conversion; case registered
What's the story
Jaipur police registered a case on the basis of a complaint filed by a 24-year-old woman alleging her husband of rape and forced conversion.
The woman, who met her husband two years ago through Facebook, alleged he forced her to sleep with his friends.
Reportedly, he also forced her to convert her religion to Islam in January, 2017.
Police said a medical examination would be conducted today.

Man dated woman using fake name, started threatening her
According to the woman, she met him in 2016. He had introduced himself as Ishant.
When the woman learned of his true identity as a Muslim man, she tried breaking up with him but he threatened to upload pictures of their intimate moments.
Later, she was forced to marry him. She alleged he threatened to kill her mother and her if she walked out.

Woman decided to take action after her sister was threatened
She gave birth to a child in February this year. She said he began threatening her cousin and claimed he would convert her too, by getting her married to one of his brothers.
"I didn't have the courage to go to police earlier but after threats for my sister, I decided to leave," she said.
In August, she went to her maternal grandparents' house.

At first, police didn't register a case, woman alleges
The woman alleged when she first approached police, a case wasn't registered. "They didn't register a case saying that such cases were handled by courts," she said.
But SHO Jaimal Singh of Malviya Nagar police station said the woman didn't tell them about forced conversion earlier.
"She only said that her husband tortured her and we thought it was a family affair," he said.

On a local court's order the FIR was registered under IPC Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 420 (cheating), 383 (extortion), 354 (outraging the modesty of a woman), 376(D) (gang rape), 377 (unnatural sex) and 295 (conversion).
