J&K: Separatist leader Yasin Malik's JKLF banned under anti-terror law
The Center has banned Jammu & Kashmir separatist leader Yasin Malik-led outfit, Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), under the anti-terror law. According to officials, the JKLF organization was banned for its alleged promotion of secessionist activities in the northern state. The separatist outfit was banned under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, said officials. Here's more on it.

"The JKLF has been at the forefront of separatists' activities," Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba told media persons. "Yasin Malik was the mastermind of the Kashmiri Pandit genocide. JKLF was also responsible for the murder of 4 IAF officers," Gauba added. "JKLF has also been known to be a source of funding for terror in Kashmir," the Home Secretary said.
Declared JKLF (Yasin faction) as an unlawful association: MHA
"Central Government in its pursuit of strong action against terrorism, has today declared JKLF (Yasin faction) as an unlawful association under the provisions of Section 3(1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967," said the Ministry of Home Affairs in a statement.
MHA's notification on banning the Yasin Malik-led JKLF
In a notification issued on banning the Yasin Malik-led JKLF, the Ministry of Home Affairs stated, "JKLF-Y is involved in anti-national and subversive activities intended to disrupt the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India." "JKLF-Y is in close touch with militant outfits and is supporting extremism and militancy in Jammu and Kashmir and elsewhere," the Ministry said on the outfit.

"JKLF-Y is supporting and inciting claims for secession of a part of the Indian territory from the Union and supporting terrorist and separatist groups fighting for this purpose by indulging in activities and articulations intended to disrupt the territorial integrity of India," stated the MHA.
Yasin Malik currently lodged in Jammu's Kot Balwal jail
JKLF chief Yasin Malik, who is under arrest, is lodged in the Kot Balwal jail in Jammu. The move to ban JKLF comes a month after the government launched a crackdown on separatist leaders on 24 February. As many as 130 separatists from Jamaat-e-Islami (Kashmir) as well as the Hurriyat Conference were detained, including Yasin Malik and Jamaat-e-Islami (Kashmir) chief Abdul Hamid Fayaz.
Central Government has followed policy of 'Zero Tolerance' against terrorism
In its statement, the Home Affairs Ministry also stated, "The Central Government has followed the policy of 'Zero Tolerance' against terrorism and has acted strongly against terrorists. Securities Forces have been given free hand to deal with terrorism."
