Two Hizbul Mujahideen militants killed in encounter in South Kashmir
Two Hizbul Mujahideen militants were killed in an encounter today with security forces in Pulwama (South Kashmir). Security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Tikken area of Pulwama this morning, after receiving specific information about the presence of militants there, a police spokesman said. The militants were involved in terror attacks on security establishments and atrocities against civilians in the area, he said.
Militants were residents of Pulwama district
The spokesman said as the forces were carrying out the searches in the area, the militants opened fire on them. The forces retaliated and in the ensuing encounter, two militants were killed. The slain ultras were identified as Liyaqat Munir Wani, a resident of the Below Dargund area, and Wajid Ul Islam, a resident of the Babhar area in Pulwama district, he said.
INSAS rifle recovered was snatched by terrorists earlier
Arms and ammunition including AK and INSAS rifle and other incriminating materials were recovered from the encounter site. The INSAS rifle seized from the encounter site was the same rifle that the terrorists had snatched from Murran, Pulwama, earlier, the spokesman said.
