J&K: Army personnel shoots himself with service rifle in Samba
An Army personnel allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle inside a camp in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said today. Naik Jasvir Singh (34), who was posted with the Punjab regiment, shot himself with his service rifle while on sentry duty at Maheshwar camp in the district yesterday, a police official said.
Motive behind Singh's act is not known: Official
The police official said Singh's colleagues rushed to the scene on hearing the gunshot and evacuated him to a nearby medical facility where he was declared brought dead. The motive behind him taking such an extreme step was not known immediately, the police official said. He added that inquest proceedings have been initiated in connection with the incident.
