Two terrorists have been gunned down this morning by the Indian forces in an encounter in the Bandipora district's Hajin area of Jammu and Kashmir. After receiving intelligence inputs about terrorists' presence, forces cordoned off Hajin's Mir Mohalla village. The gun battle broke out after the terrorists opened fire on the forces. J&K Police Constable Zahir Abbas was martyred in the encounter.
Locals pelt stones on security personnel
According to reports, the firing has stopped, but heavy stone pelting on the security forces by the locals is underway to disturb their operation. Also, one of the slain terrorists has been identified as Ali Bhai, a Lashkar terrorist from Pakistan.
Ex-IB Chief to restart dialogue process in the Valley
This is the first encounter between the forces and terrorists in the Kashmir Valley after the Union Government on 23 October appointed former Intelligence Bureau Chief, Dineshwar Sharma, as the special representative for holding a "sustained dialogue" in the strife-torn state. Interlocutor Sharma has already met with J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti to discuss the proposed talks with all stakeholders.
