Indian Army soldier flees with AK-47 rifle, search ops underway
Zahoor Ahmad Thakur, an Indian Army soldier with the 173 Territorial Army went missing from his Army camp in Gantmulla area on Thursday from Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. An AK-47 rifle is also missing along with the soldier. Reportedly, Thakur is suspected to have joined the militant terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen.
Indian Army's soldiers' escape raises alarm
Thakur's reason for escape is yet to be known and a probe has been launched to find his whereabouts. Zahoor Ahmad Thakur is a resident of Pulwama district in South Kashmir. Officials said that Thakur's service rifle and three magazines were also missing. Army officials were alarmed after discovering that a soldier had fled considering the tense situation in the Valley.
